Sectarianism and its waves are engulfing the secular outlook of Sindh.

Sindh Province once was considered as the most secular part of the country where all ethnic groups lived peacefully for centuries without any sectarian violence but that all were changing due to shifting dynamics of the country because of being the center of regional and global proxies. Throughout the last decades, Communal riots and attacks on minority groups have become part of the routine and this trend is in a growth trajectory. It will be hard to summarize the all-encompassed factors which played their role to damage the centuries-long values of Sindh and made it the breeding ground of extremism and intolerance.

Extremism in Sindh increased due to several reasons like lack of seriousness from provincial governments and mishandling of religious and ethnic groups. Basic Rights are also unavailable for the young and vigilant generation which is why they are falling prey to extremism. The unchecked flow of immigrants from the different parts of countries who transferred their extremist ideological views to the local people. Proxy wars in the region cannot be ignored when it comes to the promotion of extremism in the region, it is all because of the geostrategic location of this region on the world map and it made it almost impossible for the world powers to resist capitalizing on their interests in such important battleground. The religious/Sectarian proxies and political prowess showoff caused havoc in the lives of people of this region, whether it is Afghanistan or Pakistan both suffered almost equally.

What Pakistani State has to do to suppress the proxies of regional and world powers to keep the menace of sectarian and political violence at the bay. In real-time, it seems that it would prove tough for the state of Pakistan because of having very meager resources at its disposal but being the security state has the required capability to meddle the problems efficiently. But it would be very complicated to hold down a wave of extremism coming from various quarters. The reinduction of the same secular values immediately is far from happening but steady and sincere efforts always bear good results. Let’s aside from all perspectives of handling this problem and just ensure one thing that the state of Pakistan tries to make security forces vigilant about this matter and order them to curb those who are promoting extremism whether it is in the shape of religious hatred or ethnic. Furthermore, Government has needed to take radical steps in the social sphere of society to resolve issues like unemployment, lack of education, and other social and financial issues which are the main reasons behind the changing environment of Sindh.
