Pakistan is one of those countries which hit hard by the waves of
terrorism after the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers by the radical terrorist
organization. In the last two decades, Pakistan almost lost hundreds of
billions of dollars and thousands of civilians and military personnel s lives
in the war against terror, and due to the horrific appearance of terrorism the country witnessed the worst type of financial devastation in its history, the well-being of citizens
disappeared from the agenda of the state, and a humanitarian crisis emerged. The Army
Public School (APS) massacre traumatized the whole nation unprecedently, the
damage caused by the attack helped to rise the rage within the society to fight
hard and do whatever is possible as a united nation to eliminate the terrorists
for once and all from the soil of Pakistan. for that initiative, the military and state would have to cooperate
in an unprecedented way so the menace could have been eliminated and that is how it proved
a turning point for the Pakistan, Military crackdown against militancy started
to bore fruits and the sense of revenge was being satisfied by the military
through its coordinated offenses against its enemies. It launched a series of
operations from Zarb b Azb to Radul Fasad and
then after two decades of bloodshed, finally there was a sense of peace among the
nation.
The sense of winning the war against terrorism easily and early was anticipated by the general public keeping the view that the mighty state military is far superior against its few thousand enemies, but u professional anticipations soon just proved a dream for the people as decades of radicalization by the hand of terrorism and extremism of certain section of society rooted deeply within our society and for ripping apart it there should be a long battle to be fought by physical force and in the ideological aspect which was not anticipated by the people of the nation which made them disappointed but the military was well-known about its mission and it prepared itself for the long battle. Keeping in mind that there would be two fronts militarily and ideological fronts and from the start of offenses against terrorist outfits till now it achieved significant achievements and the backbone of terrorist outfits crushed ruthlessly. It is far from over yet which could be seen by terrorist organizations' ability to attack soft targets from time to time to indicate nation that the threat of terrorism is far from over, still lives and properties of people are not secured that much. Terrorist groups which dismantled through military operation are again trying to regroup themselves and terrorize people and spread fear once again but they are failing to regroup because of the tireless efforts of Law Enforcement Agencies of Country (LEAs). State agencies have been trying to burst sleeper cells so the remnants of these groups could be eliminated but that is hardly seemed to happen in near future because of regional proxy wars which support certain elements within these banned organizations.
State departments need to maintain the same iron fist posture for
the militants with consistency and the government too must ensure that the
terrorists should be dealt with punishments which be based according to their
capabilities and their records, in simple words punishment should suit
their criminal past. The strengthening of local law and order situation, curbing terror
financing, and showing of the firm belief that there would be no discrimination
when it comes to the crushing of those radicals, in front of state all are same
no good and bad. Through this, our people can take a sigh of relief.
