Child abuse and our society

Cases are surfacing more frequently despite our repeated claims of improving laws and the introduction of new legislation to prevent the further surge in Child abuse-related incidents. though to some extent, we may have improved the situation but it is still far enough from achieving satisfactory results keeping current surges in mind. it or decreasing it at a satisfactory level. So, where we are failing, and why we are failing? Let's examine our existing system thoroughly and find factors of Child Abuse presence in our society. 

South Asian cultures do not have a supportive environment for the child where he/she could easily talk about their problems it Struggling with and if he/she does so then negative reactions engulf his/her day. 
Specifically, In Pakistan, child abuse-related scandals are surging due to low conviction rates of involved culprits because of their associations with certain Mafias and some powerful people who always manage to escape from facing the law. the offenders are immunized from our weak and incapable justice system. And then the fear of punishment or deterrent factor almost come to a dead-end which further fuels such activities. Besides these, the so-called honor of family has also encouraged the surge in child abuse cases in our society, and because of that more than half the number of cases go unnoticed every year. Due to faulty and outdated Criminal justice system, most of the victims hesitate from complaining due to clearly understood reasons of the ineffectiveness of our justice system which takes years and years to reach a conclusion which includes many legal faults, and for that reason, victims know that appealing in courts against those people of influence could further create problems for them instead of solving them. Here is a detailed sum-up of these issues and solutions. 

 
 

Conclusions 

• Child abuse cases are highly under-reported because in remote areas people consider it their individual problems and try to revenge themselves or let these incidents go unnoticed intentionally for the sake of their reputation and under-equipped law enforcement agencies could not track or trace and interfere in such tribal matters due to its limitations because of underfunded and maintained.                                                                                             

• Home Environment where children are not encouraged to share their problems and constant degrading/suppressive treatment let them keep such sexual intimidations from culprits up to themselves due to fear.                                                                          

• The non-existence of institutions or dysfunctional institutions are factors reasonable for the constant increase in child abuse incidents.

Way Forward 

• Preschool training for the children where Bad and Good touches would be taught to children. and other necessary identifications of suspicious acts should ab included in this special training. Media too have great potential to play role in this initiative.                                                     

•  Establishment of human rights commission styled Commission which would look-after overall situation of the country and shall be empowered to issue directives to the specific institutions for the improvement or send recommendations to the government.                                                               

• The initiative by the government for the publicizing of child abuse or bringing Child abuse problem in the discussion of the general population for the sake of greater understanding of it. it's the perfect time to impart sexual understanding in children before they fall prey to monsters.
