Extremism and Violent Crimes

Extremism become common factor behind the growing incidents of violent moments and violent criminal activities which include attacks on minority groups, violation of human rights, and cracking down on dissenting groups in society. for the sake of understanding we would discuss the interconnectedness of extremism with other violent criminal activities to better evaluate the whole understanding in sound manner.

CAUSES OF EXTREMISM

 

The causing factors behind the extremism surge are various but most notable ones are the environment and geo-political location of any country/society which allows various actors to manipulate the minds of common people and inject extremist beliefs in them to further advance their nefarious agendas. these include political, social, religious and financial agendas of non-state/state actors.

 

How to Break the Chain?

This had been very difficult for societies to get rid of extremism in whole but they successfully somehow curbed it. the ways they followed to deradicalize citizens are,

• Educational syllabus designed accordingly to sensitize students to respect opponent opinions.
• Sound law and enforcement system which can create precedent which in turn discourage people who have the tendencies to go extreme.
• effective Criminal justice system which systematically treat extremist to normalize their behavior so they could become habitual to respect or accept others beliefs and positions.
