The Origin of Terrorism In Pakistan

 

Pakistan is among the countries which are affected badly from waves of terrorisms. It cost country badly in financial and social way. The origin of terrorism in this country can be traced back to 1970s and 80s when certain world affairs manipulated diversity of country to originate the waves of violence.

The origin of Terrorism can be classified into 2 Periods As,

 

·        The Soviet Invasion (Pre 9/11 era)

·        The War on Terror (Post 9/11 era)

 

The invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979, in the midst of the Cold War, the Soviet 40th Army invaded Afghanistan in order to prop up the communist government of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) against a growing Islamic insurgency. While in this country the coup was unfolded by the General Zia, the govt of elected prime minister overthrown and later he hanged MR BHUTTO. The invasion of Afghan by the soviet provided the Zia government the much-needed opportunity to legitimize its power, in return he offered his services to the powers against soviet. The Zia regime helped American camp to create mujahidin against the soviets like they weaponized heavily and brainwashed and taught that fight against foreign rule is jihad, which ultimately leads towards the collapse of soviets by the hands of mujahidin. With the collapse of soviets, and here the American camp happily left the mess they created without dismantling them and left several complications. The involvement of Pakistan in the war leads to the emergence of proxy war in Pakistani soil and started the era of sectarian violence and targeted killings in country. This is the précised background of era which perceived as the beginning of terrorism in Pakistan.

 

 The attack on America in 9/11 devastated the fabric of American society and left far reaching consequences for the world and particularly for the Muslim countries. In reaction America launched global war against terrorism and invaded the Afghanistan which was ruled by the same mujahidin which brought in picture by the America itself. With the allegation that the mujahidin rule is supporting the Al Qaida and other terrorist outfits and also providing them with safe heavens. So, in that war America needed the critical support of Pakistan in this war and pressurized Pakistan that if it did not help America in war then Pakistan would be considered as supporter of Taliban govt and terrorists. Because of that pressure Pakistan aligned itself with the war on terror and became the target of same mujahidin, they accommodated once. Pakistan severally felt the burnt of extremism in parts of KPK and FATA because these areas once the home of mujahidin. Slowly the wave of extremism engulfed whole country. The logic America put in minds of those fighters which once fight against the soviets, now the same logic is used against the American lead forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan as ally faced the same burnt of it because it already Islamized its society in era of Zia.
