Forced Conversion

Forced conversation means to force someone to adopt religion of other group who are from dominant group, usually it happens to those people who are in minority in their countries. In forced conversion, people use or misuse religion to hide or try to legalize their criminal act. This heinous crime is very common in our country and usually go unnoticed and even if it somehow reaches the shores of our legal system, it hardly reaches any conclusion due to lake of legislation.

 

Crimes inside crime!

 

 In Criminological sense, forced conversion is the one of crimes which are hard to find any justice in countries where Criminal Justice System is incompetent or faulty or lake proper structural existence. The way of forced conversion in some areas is happen in extra brutal ways such as abduction, rape and forced conversion which end at the last in the shape of forced marriage because later option is the only way to get rid of legal actions in very soft manner.

 

How to stop it?

 

Way to end injustices against minorities need firm approach from the govt side. it would be fair to say that these measures must include these basic things in their approach.

• Improved, clear and perfect defined legislation is a prerequisite. 
• Swift, strict Punishment without any discrimination
• Public Condemnations of forced conversion in sound manner by the govt officials
• Safety and support for the victims (Financial, psychological)

We have many examples which shows us how we have been failed to protect rights of minorities, Ongoing Case of Minor Child Which Forcefully converted and then married to man who is twice her age. They are equal citizen of this country and protection of their life, freedom should not be compromised at any cost. Passage of recent bills from Sindh assembly is right step towards right direction but it is insufficient if compared to overall prevailing dire situation of intolerance in society for the minority groups. Pakistan has taken various positive steps but it needs to do more.
