Public Hanging of Rapists in Pakistan, Critical analysis of its impact on society.

There is a lot of public outcry after the incident of gang rape in Punjab. The victim was raped in front of her children. After that incident, many voices were raised against that inhumane violence and people are demanding strict punishment, for instance, public hanging of offenders. But one should consider different aspects of it like would it help us to prevent further incidents in future? This way is not new and it had been in use many times in the history of our nation but such a way of dealing with such issues was failed, again and again, it never worked in past too. here are some aspects which were derived keeping in view the past and present scenarios after the little touch of history which is very important to understand the overall issue.

Public Hangings in our history

History is full of such incidents, Specially at the time of the Zia ul Haq regime. That regime used to adopt public punishment of offenders and in many cases of sexual abuse and child abuse, that regime took extreme ways to deal such cases like public hangings. Further, there is also one of the most recent Public hanging cases is Zainab's killer. He was hanged Publicly because of his inhumane crime. these all ways not yielded results in line with our desires. In Contrast, Cases went even higher, Reason is very simple, it is not important how much strict punishment you are awarded, the important is that how much your Criminal Justice System (C.J.S) is efficient to provide rampant and swift Justice without any unreasonable delays. And That is key to create deterrence among criminals. currently, in Pakistan criminals and the same mindset holding people not sure about the justice system's ability to apprehend them. That's the point where we failed.

Public Punishment does not create deterrence among the criminal groups, it's the certainty of justice that deters them from involving in criminal activities. especially the rapists do not rape just because of any materialistic purpose, the reasons behind such inhumane acts need academic research and attention from the social scientists to find out which psychological and biological defects trigger sexual violence in rapists.

Public hanging or public punishments do nothing except the promotion of violence further within the society, which is completely opposite where we desire efforts to curtail extremism from the society, and such acts from the state itself will only increase the reach of violence and extremism to every corner of our society.

Law-makers have shown a keen interest in formulating the law to prevent the free-roaming of sexual criminals in society. they have been trying to bring laws that make sexual crimes of utmost importance in the eye of state machinery so law enforcement officials take sexual crimes with more focus. Supposed laws are critical in their nature, if passed with considerable input from various parties then laws will bring drastic changes in the way sexual crimes have been seen in society which is indeed a good step. but this all depends on whether these laws be implemented according to their spirit or not.

dealing sexual acts of violence with professionalism and in a systematic way would help a lot to reduce it from society and proper awareness campaigns in traditional and non-traditional media about the sensitization of masses towards the victims of sexual violence is as much important as many implementations of laws.
